The Peter Michael Winery 2018 Cuvée Indigène Estate Chardonnay (ku-vay in-de-zhen), French for “indigenous blend,” was our first wine to be allowed to ferment naturally without the addition of commercial yeast. This meticulous barrel selection represents a study in the power and finesse of Chardonnay. The 2017 Cuvée Indigène is comprised of 22 selected barrels of Old Wente clone drawn from our Knights Valley estate. Cuvée Indigène is an example of artisanal winemaking at its finest.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes:
Intense and expressive notes of brioche, mineral, peach blossom, candied orange, lemon oil,  yellow peach and dried apricot on the nose.  Accents of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, meringue and crème brûlée complete the multi-layered and very intense bouquet. The texture is ample and creamy and balanced, with ample “gras” and a lingering mineral finish.

Wine Information:
100% Estate Chardonnay
Aged 16 months in 100% French oak barrels from select artisan coopers
Bottled unfined and unfiltered
