  • The Michael family purchases Sugarloaf Ranch in Knights Valley—
    now the Peter Michael Winery estate.

1988

  • First vintage of ‘Les Pavots’ Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Blend is produced.
  • First vintage of ‘Cuvée Indigène’ Estate Chardonnay produced from selected barrels fermented completely with indigenous yeast.

1989

  • First phase of winery construction on the estate; schoolhouse, tank building, and the original barrel building are constructed.

1991

  • First vintage of ‘L’Après-Midi’ Estate Sauvignon Blanc.

1992

  • First vintage of ‘Point Rouge’ Estate Chardonnay.

1995

  • First vintage of ‘Belle Côte’ Estate Chardonnay.

1997

  • First vintage of ‘La Carrière’ Estate Chardonnay and ‘Le Moulin Rouge’ Estate Pinot Noir.

1998

  • Seaview Estate purchased on the Sonoma coast for estate-grown Pinot Noir.

2001

  • First vintage of ‘L’Esprit des Pavots’ Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Blend.

2002

  • First vintage of ‘Ma Belle-Fille’ Estate Chardonnay.

2009

  • Oakville Estate purchased in the heart of Napa Valley.
  • First vintage of estate Pinot Noirs ‘Le Caprice’, ‘Clos du Ciel,’ and ‘Ma Danseuse.’

2014

  • Sir Peter receives the Wine Spectator Distinguished Service Award for his achievements in the wine industry.

2015

  • Wine Spectator names the 2012 vintage of ‘Au Paradis’ Estate Cabernet Blend as the number one wine in their Top 100 Wines of the Year.

2018

  • Winery celebrates Sir Peter’s eightieth birthday.
  • First vintage of ‘Le Chapeau Blanc’ Estate Cabernet Blend is produced in his honor.

2022

  • The winery celebrates its fortieth anniversary since Sir Peter founded the Knights Valley Estate in 1982.
